Ghana’s Ambassador to Denmark, H.E. Mrs. Sylvia Naa Adaawa Annoh was the Special Guest of Honour at the “Palmwine Highlife Music Night” organised by the Brekete Sounds Live Band on Saturday 4th March 2023 to celebrate Ghana’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
Brekete Sounds is made up of versatile and driven Ghanaian and Danish musicians who have researched the Ghanaian music heritage and complemented traditional music with innovative creativity, specialising in Afro-jazz, Afro-pop, highlife, and “palmwine highlife” music from Ghana.
The independence celebration was patronised by some Ghanaians, other African nationals, and largely Danish nationals that love Ghanaian music. The evening was a display of Ghana through music, and guests spent the entire evening on the dance floor.
In brief remarks, Ambassador Annoh conveyed greetings from His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, and congratulated all Ghanaians on the 66th Independence anniversary.
She expressed appreciation that Brekete Sounds was actively flying the flag of Ghana high in Denmark through music, noting that this is a clear demonstration of love and commitment to Ghana.
Sharing the theme for Ghana’s 66th Independence anniversary celebrations (“Our Unity; Our Strength; Our Purpose”) Ambassador Annoh observed that these values are particularly essential as the world goes through very trying and difficult times, and that these values will underpin the successes of Ghana, Denmark, and the entire world in the coming decades.
