Team Ghana Shines at the 2025 Next Generation Digital Action Tech Summit

The Embassy of the Republic of Ghana in Copenhagen proudly congratulates Team Ghana for their exceptional performance at the 2025 Next Generation Digital Action Tech Summit, held in Copenhagen, Denmark on 3rd November 2025.

Ghana’s delegation led by Professor Alexander Boakye Marful and Dr. Oliver Kornyo of KNUST, Ghana’s delegation demonstrated outstanding innovation and excellence in digital technology. Out of five participating teams, four won major awards, making Ghana one of the top-performing nations at the event.

The winning teams and their projects are as follows:

  • National Best Award – Team Ghana (Kenya Track)
    Project: Tracing Aflatoxin in Agricultural Produce in Kenya
    Team Members: Henry Kofi Danso (Team Lead), Michael Ayim Jnr., and Edwyna Serwaa Ofosuhene
    Developed a digital platform for detecting aflatoxin contamination in crops to enhance food safety and agricultural sustainability.
  • Acceleration Award – Team Ghana (Ghana Track)
    Project: Transforming Citizen Engagement in Ghana through Large Language Models
    Team Members: Elisha Soglo-Ahianyo (Team Lead), Stephanie Davies, Kingsley Agyekum, and Susan Agyekum
    Introduced a digital archiving and data-access system to make Ghana’s parliamentary Hansards more open, transparent, and accessible to the public.
  • Acceleration Award – Team Ghana (Colombia Track)
    Project: Enhancing Financial Transparency in Public Works in Bogotá, Colombia
    Team Members: Amma Agyemang Opoku (Team Lead), Desmond Nani, and Alexandria Nakawunde
    Designed a data-driven platform to trace and reduce corruption in public procurement and government expenditure.
  • Impact Award (Entrepreneur Category) – Team Ghana (Maternity Connect)
    Project: Maternal Health Monitoring and Advisory System
    Team Members: Cephas Abbey and Umuhairu Alhassan
    Developed a system to support expectant mothers through real-time guidance and alerts, promoting safe and informed deliveries.

The winning projects addressed diverse global challenges from food safety and citizen engagement to financial transparency and maternal health showcasing the ingenuity and problem-solving abilities of Ghana’s young innovators.

H.E. Dr. Margaret Miewien Chebere, Ghana’s Ambassador to Denmark, together with staff of the Embassy, visited the teams during the semi-final rounds at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). The Ambassador commended the participants for their creativity and resilience, encouraging them to continue representing Ghana with pride.

The Embassy celebrates this remarkable achievement, which reflects Ghana’s growing leadership in digital innovation, research excellence, and youth entrepreneurship. This success is testament to Ghana’s global reputation as a hub for creativity and sustainable technological solutions.
