ESSAY COMPETITION – GHANA’S 69TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS

As part of activities commemorating Ghana’s 69th Independence Anniversary, the Embassy of the Republic of Ghana, Copenhagen, is pleased to announce an Essay Competition for Ghanaian youth in the diaspora. The initiative seeks to promote reflective, policy-oriented thinking and strengthen youth engagement in Ghana’s national development agenda.

Essay Topic

“If You Were President of the Republic of Ghana for One Year, What Policy Actions Would You Prioritise to Advance National Development?”

Participants are invited to submit original, well-structured essays presenting realistic and innovative policy ideas.

Key Date

  • Submission Period: 2nd to 16th February 2026

Eligibility

  • Ghanaian youth in the diaspora aged 18–40 years
  • Residents of Denmark or Sweden

Submission Guidelines

  • Length: 800–1,000 words
  • Format: Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx)
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12-point (title 14-point bold)
  • Spacing: 1.5; Margins: 1 inch
  • Originality: Essays must be original and unpublished. Plagiarism will result in disqualification.

Evaluation

Essays will be assessed by an Evaluation Panel and scored out of 100 marks based on relevance, originality, practicality, clarity, analytical depth, and presentation.

Awards

  • All participants will be issued with Certificates of Participation.
  • The top three (3) essay entrants will be awarded during the 69th Independence Day Celebration on 6th March 2026.

The Embassy looks forward to the active participation of Ghanaian youth in the diaspora in this initiative, which provides a meaningful platform for young voices to contribute to Ghana’s nation-building efforts.
