On Thursday, 12th February 2026, renowned Ghanaian master drummer and Cultural Ambassador Okyerema Asante paid a courtesy call on the Ambassador, H.E. Dr. Margaret Miewien Chebere, ahead of his Winter Jazz 2026 Tour across Denmark. He was accompanied by the legendary Ghanaian percussionist, Ayi Solomon, and the tour promoter, Mr. Alfred Tamakloe.
The visit, marked by warmth and cultural pride, underscored Okyerema Asante’s enduring role as a global representative of Ghanaian arts and heritage. During the meeting, discussions centered on strengthening cultural diplomacy and promoting Ghana’s rich musical traditions on international platforms. Widely regarded as a cultural icon, Okyerema Asante continues to serve as a proud Ambassador of Ghanaian heritage.
With a career spanning decades, Okyerema Asante has carried the rhythms of Africa to some of the world’s most prestigious stages. His collaborations with legendary artists such as Hugh Masekela, Miriam Makeba, and Paul Simon firmly established him as a percussionist of international repute.
As part of the Winter Jazz Festival 2026, Asante will perform in Copenhagen, Aalborg, Aarhus, and Albertslund, bringing his dynamic stage presence and deeply rooted African rhythms to diverse audiences across the country.
